I am Phuong Diem, the founder of Flyfood—a business that specializes in serving traditional Vietnamese cuisine on delivery. The food is cooked industrially to guarantee standard taste and flavor and is packed in customized packages to maintain the heat, crispiness, and safety until it is served.
She catered to customers providing for those quarantined.
When we started out, our aim was to make people aware of our services and for that, we used to sell service vouchers to customers. However, once we gained a substantial number of customers, we used Facebook to market our products and packages. Over time, we also realized it’s important to keep up with customer needs and preferences so we keep enhancing our menu. Not only that, in 2015, we started to offer party services which included bowls, plates, cutlery, tables, and chairs in addition to the food delivered to the doorstep. In 2018, we came up with a Ship and Service package wherein we also provided the facility of servers plus the food at home.
The business boasts a central kitchen with 100 employees.
To keep customers’ faith going, we provide 1-on-1 exchange if the food fails to satisfy them. Also, we run a closed cycle operation system in which, right from placing the order to closing them, the process is coded. This enables complete customer satisfaction.
Things were looking up and we were receiving great feedback when COVID-19 impacted our business. The demand for our party packages dropped by a whopping 90% but we had to ensure we sustained the company. This was also the time to stand up for our people. So, starting May 2021, we began supplying 50-70 meals every day to the frontline workers. After all, they were putting their lives at risk for us. We were honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the People Committee for the same. We also began providing to customers who were serving those quarantined. Helping our community helped our business. Our profits increased and we registered a growth even during the pandemic.
Flyfood has many long-serving employees owing to its policies.
During hard times, we learnt that when one door closes, another opens. One must keep going and have faith. In 2022, we plan to strengthen our party packages, as well as create more dishes that can be shipped to suburban areas. We also plan to enhance our workforce from 20% to 50% and purchase more machines to industrialize the cooking process. We are keen on showcasing the beauty of Vietnamese cuisine to the world.
