Transforming clay into success
"I believe that every woman has this hidden, innate talent inside them"
Hema didn’t discover her love of clay until she had kids of her own. But the pull was powerful. She was intrigued by the medium. When she started getting compliments on her jewelry designs she made at home, she decided to train a few women to work with her.
The experience gave her valuable insights into the challenges artisans face when trying to make a living, because she was facing them herself. Marketing, pricing, access to the market. Jewelry would sit on a shelf for 40 days before she was paid. She realised that if she could find a solution to these barriers, she could not only help her own business, she could help other artisans as well.
