The certified organic warrior

"Find your passion, believe it's possible, get some grit and courage to go after your dreams and then don't give up."

Therese Kerr believes life’s challenges give way to opportunity. In her case, it was her health that inspired Therese to create a beautiful range of natural, organic alternatives to everyday personal care products.

The “aha” moment

With a qualification in accounting, a real estate license up her sleeve and previous business advisory roles to the Australian government, Therese had everything going for her but something just wasn’t right—her work was not making her feel energised.

Thinking she was healthy, a major health scare in 2002 forced Therese to start researching chemicals in day-to-day consumer products and food items. “I was shocked at what I discovered and decided I should do something about it,” she says.

This was the turning point that sparked her career change and now, as director and co-founder of The Divine Company, she says she is finally living her passion.

Influencing for good

As the mother of famous model Miranda Kerr, Therese believes the media spotlight comes with a responsibility to incite positive change.

The family initially created a premium skincare brand KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr, and when they decided to branch out into healthy beauty products, they launched The Divine Company. It is their goal for these Australian-owned-and-made, certified organic products to become the Estée Lauder of organics.

“The biggest challenge we faced was education, and whilst people are starting to understand the impact of chemicals in food, fewer understand the impact of putting untested chemicals on their body,” Therese says. “The Divine Company makes sure it counteracts this by sharing only evidence-based research and accredited studies.”

Facebook has been instrumental in spreading the brand’s message, and in building a community that enables people to feel they are making a difference to themselves and to others.

Take control of your potential

It took a health scare to inspire Therese to make a change in her life, but she urges others not to wait around and just take control of their own lives.

“Find your passion, believe it’s possible, get some grit and courage to go after your dreams and then don’t give up—a woman’s potential, determination and stickability can never be questioned when she makes up her mind.”
